Deconfinement Transition in Large N Lattice Gauge Theory

چکیده

We study analytically the phase diagram of the pure SU (N) lattice gauge theory at finite temperature, and we attempt to estimate the critical decon-finement temperature. We apply large N techniques to the Wilson and to the Heat Kernel action, and we study the resulting models both in the strong coupling and in the weak coupling limits. Using the Heat Kernel action, we establish an interesting connection between the Douglas-Kazakov phase transition of two-dimensional QCD and the deconfining transition in d dimensions. The analytic results obtained for the critical temperature compare well with Montecarlo simulations of the full theory in (2 + 1) and in (3 + 1) dimensions.

Another weak first order deconfinement transition: three-dimensional SU(5) gauge theory

We examine the finite-temperature deconfinement phase transition of (2+ 1)-dimensional SU(5) Yang-Mills theory via non-perturbative lattice simulations. Unsurprisingly, we find that the transition is of first order, however it appears to be weak. This fits naturally into the general picture of “large” gauge groups having a first order deconfinement transition, even when the center symmetry asso...

On The Deconfinement Transition in SU(4) Lattice Gauge Theory

The deconfinement transition in SU(4) lattice gauge theory is investigated on N s × Nt lattices for Ns = 8–16 and Nt = 4–8 using a modified Wilson action which is expected to be free of any bulk transitions. The susceptibility χ |L| , where L is the order parameter for deconfinement, is found to increase linearly with spatial volume for Nt = 4, 5, and 6, indicating a first order deconfinement p...

Deconfinement inYang-Mills: a conjecture for a general gauge Lie group G

Svetitsky and Yaffe have argued that — if the deconfinement phase transition of a (d+1)-dimensional Yang-Mills theory with gauge group G is second order — it should be in the universality class of a d-dimensional scalar model symmetric under the center C(G) of G. These arguments have been investigated numerically only considering Yang-Mills theory with gauge symmetry in the G = SU(N) branch, wh...

Z 2 Monopoles , Vortices , and The Deconfinement Transition in Mixed Action SU ( 2 ) Gauge Theory

Adding separate chemical potentials λ and γ for Z2-monopoles and vortices respectively in the Villain form of the mixed fundamental-adjoint action for the SU(2) lattice gauge theory, we investigate their role in the interplay between the deconfinement and bulk phase transitions using Monte Carlo techniques. Setting λ to be nonzero, we find that the line of deconfinement transitions is shifted i...

The Deconfinement Transition in Su (4) Lattice Gauge Theory

The nature of the phase transition(s) to QuarkGluon Plasma, which we hope to see in the experiments of RHIC and later of LHC, and the physics driving it, have always been of great interest. While the real world has presumably two very light (u,d) flavours of quarks and one somewhat heavier (s) flavour, both analytical and numerical methods in lattice QCD begin from the limiting cases of either ...
